Sairam. With the Divine Blessings of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai, the fourth day of the Navaratri Celebrations at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, Chromepet, unfolded with devotion and excellence under the sacred theme “Gayantham Trayathi Iti Gayatri.” The day began with an enchanting musical offering by the students on violin and flute, performed with reverence at the Lotus Feet of Bhagawan. Correspondent Sri S. Loganathan appreciated the students’ performance and encouraged them to strive for similar excellence in all areas, including academics.
This was followed by an insightful Navaratri pravachan by Mrs. K. Poongothai, Primary Headmistress. She began by engaging the students with a riddle to guess the Sadhana of the day, which was revealed to be obedience. She then led the students through a series of reflective questions: What would happen if nature stopped obeying its laws? What are the consequences of disobeying traffic rules? How does ignoring our parents’ guidance affect us? Can we succeed in life if we fail to respect time? What happens when we disregard our teachers or the rules of the hostel? She concluded with a thought-provoking question—what if AI machines stopped obeying human instructions?
To illustrate the importance of humility and obedience, Mrs. Poongothai narrated a profound incident involving Bhajan singer Sri V. Kumar and Swami. During a Bhajan session, Swami began singing “Hari Bhajan Bina Sukh Shanti Nahi” but paused as if He had forgotten the next line. Sri V. Kumar was called to assist, and this pattern continued for several days. Gradually, Sri V. Kumar developed a sense of pride, believing he was helping the Lord Himself. One day, Swami asked him what Bhajan he was going to sing. He replied, ‘Sesha Saila Vaasa Narayana,’ but Sri V. Kumar couldn’t recall the next line. Even when asked about the Bhajan he had sung the previous day, or any other Bhajan known to him, he found himself unable to remember even the simplest ones. Swami then lovingly explained that this was a divine lesson to teach the value of Vinaya and obedience. Swami reminded him that if the Lord forgets, the entire world would come to a standstill. It was a divine play enacted to instill humility.
Mrs. Poongothai concluded her talk by sharing inspiring quotes on obedience from great leaders and emphasized that humility and obedience are the cornerstones of true greatness. The session continued with a vibrant pravachan by Soham Bothra of Class XI, who narrated stories of the Vahanas of Gods and Goddesses—Mooshika, Tiger, Lion—who were tamed and made obedient by divine power. He highlighted Lord Hanuman as the ideal devotee of Lord Sri Rama, who mastered his senses and followed the Lord’s commands with unwavering devotion.
Soham encouraged students to practice the Sadhanas of Navaratri in daily life—starting to speak only the truth from Sathya Day, practicing sense control from Indriya Nigraha Day, cultivating humility from Vinaya Day, and embracing obedience to teachers, parents, elders, and the Divine. Students were instructed to chant the Gayatri Mantra allotted for the day—the Sai Gayatri—during class prayers and while moving around the campus, and to follow the Sadhana of the day—Vinaya—at all places and at all times. The session concluded with the Mangala Arathi offered by Mrs. K. Poongothai. Sairam.
