Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, Nemilicherry, Chromepet is a CBSE School, offering free education in the pattern of Sri Sathya Sai system of integral value based education. The school adopts digital teaching methods from L.K.G to Tenth standard. It is having hostel facilities for boys from VI to X standard. This school is accredited by SSSNAC for schools at A+ Level.

Every year the school has been organizing a seminar on human values, for the schools in and around Chennai. The main objective of the seminar is to provide an occasion for the teachers and the students to contemplate on the importance of values in human life. The Seminar also ventures to encourage team work by the teachers and the students of classes VIII to X and to prescribe new solutions for the modern ills in the light of values of Sanadhana Dharma.

The participating schools form a team of five students from classes VIII, IX and X. The team will work together under the guidance of a teacher and prepare a paper on the prescribed topic and forward it to the school. A maximum of ten papers will be selected for the presentation. Each school will be allotted 30 min out of which 20 min will be for paper presentation using power point, followed by 10 min of question answer session.

So far since 2002, eight seminars have been organized based on the main theme. This is the ninth seminar. The topic for the seminar was ‘PURITY, PATIENCE AND PERSEVERANCE - THE 3 STEPS TO DIVINITY –Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’. The seminar was held on 1st August 2010, Sunday. The following Eleven schools participated in the seminar and gave power point presentations on the topic.

The progarmme started with the Prashanti flag hoisting ceremony by Prof.R.Balasubramanian, Dean, Sri Natesan Vidyasala Mat. Hr.Sec. School. Few bhajans were sung by the school students.

The seminar was inaugurated by Shri.M.Yoganandham, M.Com,B.Ed, Joint Secretary to Government, School Education Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. In his inaugural address,. He expressed his views on the importance of Value Education in schools and requested all the institutions to introduce value based system of Education. It is the urgent requirement of the present day’s world.

Sri P. Kumaraswamy, Correspondent of the school welcomed the gathering.

Smt. K.Saimeera, Principal, SSSIE, Chromepet congratulated the schools whose papers were selected for presentation, shared her overviews and gave a brief description of the methods of evaluation of the seminar.

A panel of eminent judges drawn from various fields evaluated the presentation of papers by the different schools. The judges were

The review of the seminar was given by Prof N.Shanmugam, Educational Advisor, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Educare, Chromepet and Education officer (Retd), KV.Sangathan, Ministry of Education, Government of India.He expressed his views on “Love” with examples. He appreciated mother’s love as Pure Love. He also focused his views on the topic with varied illustrations from real life situations.

The valedictory function was presided over by Shri.V.K.Subburaj, I.A.S, Principal, Secretary to the Government, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. In his speech, he stressed on teaching Human values in schools and protecting them. He appreciated the institution for taking efforts in implementing Value Education in their system. Shri. Florent C. Pereira, General Manager, Kalaingar TV Pvt Ltd also addressed the gathering.

The judges gave their feedback. It was observed that the students who had been learning values since their childhood could perform better. One should understand the topic and give his best. What one speaks and the way one speaks are both important. They advised to add on more non formal techniques of presentation to make it more interesting.

Shri. Krisnamoorthy, the comperer, kept the programme lively by encouraging and giving valuable tips to the participants.

The prizes and certificates for participation were given to 10 different schools by Shri. Florent C. Pereira and finally S.C.S. Mat. Hr. Sec. School was given the Award for Excellence for the best paper presentation by the Chief Guest.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Smt.J.Sai Laavanya. The function concluded with the Mangala Aarathi.
